| Me too, but getting anything of B5 is kinda difficult were I live. I mean if I would talk about B5 in school. People would go ???????. I mean they hardly know the differnce between Star Wars and Star Trek. |

I got addicted January this year when I saw season's 1 and 2 on DVD in a Virgin Mega store in Newcastle and bought them without any hesitation.
I had known about B5 for ages ever since it came out but never got round to watching it in any order, just the odd episodes here and there ever since it went off terrestrial TV I never saw that much of B5
I've bought season 3 (watched it at least 10 times!!) and eagerly awaiting season 4 and 5 on DVD.
(The wait got too much for me though so I bought Season 4 and 5 on VHS on e Bay............
I have no will power ) |

The corner is called Switzerland. If I'm really lucky I'll find a person around here, besides my dearest friends of course, who know that Star Trek has something to do with that guy with the funny ears. But if I ask about Stargate, Star Wars and Star Trek, they get totally confused. It's a shame.
I nearly died of shock, when I saw some B5 videos in English on a basar, of course I bought them. And I couldn't stop myself either from buying the dvd box, that I could get my hands on. You really have to get lucky here, if you find anything related to B5, even Star Trek stuff is really hard to find.

Me neither don't worry, if I see something with B5 on it, it's bought, even if I have to eat sandwichs for the rest of the week. |

I first saw an ep when they were running season 5. I didn't own a TV before then. And, since I worked weekends and had no VCR, I was only able to catch the odd episode, so I didn't get half of what was going on.
Early this year a friend gave me her DVD boxes and the rest is history |

For me it was end of '96. I lived in a house and the guy downstairs was addicted. I was a huge TNG fan and hadn't watched B5 because (like John) I thought it was a Trek ripoff (yeah, I know. I learned!) I used to go down to see the guy downstairs because he was terrific to chat to (he works in TV production) and he made a great pot of tea. One day I knocked on the door and when I walked in he said, 'Sit down, shut up, Babylon 5 is on.' I knew he liked the show and not wanting to annoy him I did as I was told. The episode was The Coming of Shadows. Heck of an intro to B5, huh? Of course I didn't understand it, but those ships blew me away and I quickly found myself saying things like 'Hang on, I thought he was a bad guy...' etc. My friend told me to shush and he'd explain later. I followed the show from then on while I lived in the UK. When I moved to the US it was easier to see (repeats etc.) but I was so busy I kept missing it. Then Jason Carter turned up at the Novi Convention in Michigan. I'd gone more because of the Trek people who were there, but while I found them very mechanical ("Next. Thank you. Next!") when it came to dealing with the fans, Jason went out of his way to accommodate everyone. I was really stunned. Then a friend back in the UK said there was a big B5 convention in Blackpool that she was going to. She knew I watched the show and would I like to go and keep her company? Tickets on her ("birthday/Christmas/thanks for putting me up for two weeks" present) and the accommodation. I said yes. It was Wolf: The Alliance. There I met Pat and Bruce and my life got turned around in the space of three days. It was Manny's Wolf video that really woke me up to what I'd been watching all this time. His music video to Queen's The Show Must Go On left me not just stunned but actually crying (as were quite a few others in the room). I hadn't realised until that moment the full, epic nature of the programme I'd been watching. Been here ever since.
You know what really warms my heart, though. Look at the polls. 24% 1st season, 24% only just started watching. The show's starting to pick up steam again as it's rediscovered by a whole new load of fans (many of whom, clearly, weren't old enough to really appreciate it the first time around), and the original fans are still there. God I LOVE this!

I'm really grateful for the DVD boxes, since this is the only way to watch the show over here (no reruns), and in the original English too *yay* I think they might be the reason for many newcomers like me. _________________ "I'm done recafoobling the... whatever!" - Bender

I´ve been a fan of Bab5 ever since I´ve seen the first promo shots back in 1993. And after the first preview for the German broadcast in 1995 there was no turning back. _________________ "My people can handle themselves. We took care of the Dilgar. We can take care of the Minbari."

| I got hooked at the beginning of the second season when Bruce Boxleitner joined the cast as Sheridan. Before that in season 1 I didn't really watch but a couple of episodes because I wasn't too impressed by Sinclair's character. He seemed a bit too stiff to me. |

I was strict against B5, mostly because it was new, I was a Star Trek fan, and my husband recommended it . I watched a few eps partly from the door of our living room. But then came the ep in season 1 where Garibaldi is on the run and takes the Centauri money from Londo. That ep hooked me. I don't know why because it is not one of my favorite eps by far. |
