A friend of mine who makes excellent WW2 US ration crates is looking to make ACW Hardtack crates. These will be exact reproductions with the correct stencils etc. I just wanted to see how much interest there would be from the membership for these. They would certainly look good in the encampments and will be tons better than some of the farby boxes currently in use. And you can transport your gear, food, beer etc. around in them, hell, you could even fill them with Hardtack!
Anyway, I may have an example to show around at Belhus Woods but in the meantime please let me know your interest or not. Price will be about £35 each. _________________ Tony Dudman

Thanks to those that have responded so far, keep them coming please. Just to confirm price will be £35 per crate and you can have up to 4 crates delivered by courier for £12.50. As I'm only "fronting" for my friend, it will be him you'll be dealing with but I can take orders at events with payment if wished. _________________ Tony Dudman

I would be interested.
I'd only want one crate though.

Perhaps those of us interested in hard tack crates could club together and save on postage eg £12.50 divided by 4 instead of £12.50. _________________ Patrick Breslin AKA Miles Reilly 28th Mass/US Marines

My mate is just waiting for the instructions to arrive then he hopes to start production early next month. I should have an example to show around at Glenham Hall in July and could possibly deliver orders at Broadlands and Bath if I can can get them in my car with everything else! _________________ Tony Dudman

There is a photo of an original in the Echoes Of Glory Union book but does not give dimensions.
The replicas will be the same size as the originals of course! _________________ Tony Dudman

Update! The first crate has been made and looks really good. I will bring it to Glemham Hall and Broadlands. Final price is £38 per crate plus £12 shipping for up to 4 crates to one address.
PM me if you would like to see photos. _________________ Tony Dudman
